How to Maintain a Mining Claim

Pay your maintenance fees online through the BLM pay portal before September 1st of each year. You can also file a Small Miners Waiver if you own 10 or fewer mining claims. Submit an affidavit of annual assessment work with the County the claims are located in.

Alternatively, we provide a service to complete all this for you and keep your claims in good standing!

What am I Buying?

You are buying the surface mineral rights within the boundaries of that claim. Nobody else is allowed to prospect or mine for minerals within the boundaries of the claim but others may recreate.

To transfer ownership of an existing claim, a quit claim deed is submitted through BLM and the County the claims are located in.

Can I use heavy equipment?

With an approve Notice or Plan level permit you can. You may use hand tools and detectors anytime. Permitting can take 1 month to years depending on what your proposed operation is. We can help you through the permitting process so reach out for details!

Can I build a house?

You are buying mineral rights not private land. Temporary housing such as tents and trailers are allowed, however if you occupy the land more than 14 days in a 90 day period, you will have to receive occupancy approval from the BLM or USFS.
